Style File: Qristyl Frazier Designs

Photobucket
As plus size ladies, we are always on the look out for designs that will set us apart from the crowd. The worst feeling is when we walk into a party (or sometimes are just walking down the street) and see the same Lane Byrant/Ashley Stewart/Avenue outfit on the next plus size lady.

With summer quickly approaching, where can ladies turn to find some fresh and new designs to rock to that Spring soiree or Spring Break vacation? The answer comes to us from Qristyl Frazier Designs.

Qristyl Frazier is the founder of this Brooklyn, NY based fashion house - which focuses on plus-size apparel. As a designer, Qristyl specializes in feminine dress with alot of sex appeal, casually sophisticated separates, flattering swimsuits and versatile cover-ups.
Here are some of our favorites from her new Spring 2009 collection:

Silk Tie Top
(Available in solid colors and printed patterns)
$70.00

Handstitched Denim Skirt

3pc Kimono Suit

I am sooooo happy to see clothes made specifically with the full figured woman in mind, and not just smaller women's clothes in bigger sizes! I love Ashley and Lane Bryant, but get tired of seeing someone with the same clothes as me!
Thanks!

I think her designs are really nice BUT come on why are plus size clothes sooooo expensive big girls on a budget like nice things too! Who wants to pay $160 for a denim dress???

@Anon 10:38am

I would pay $160 for a denim dress that is different from all of the basic trenchcoat/shirt style demim dresses I see in the catalogs. But it would be a splurge for me...a treat for a birthday, etc.

I do agree that a lot of times plus size clothing is expensive. Where can a girl go to get nice clothing at an affordable price?

Belle-Noir, maybe you can shed some light on this?

Damn, that denim dress is BAD. Loving the pink suit too. Yea you know it does feel like you have to save up when you are shopping for your plus size body but really not so much a plus size problem but a problem with quality, unique, fashionable items altogether. Very few places make really GOOD pieces of clothing that are reasonably priced (and I guess even less for the plus sized gal). Some things are worth the money - based on the looks of these things, I think the price tags are worth it (if you can afford it!)

The concept is great! However, being a plus-sized woman and trying to find clothing that is stylish yet not micro-mini and mini in length is a real struggle. In my opinion, women my size look better (and slimmer) when skirts are a bit longer, at least to the knee.
Don't forget, many who wear plus-sizes are mature women who want style with grace and elegance.

At the Curves and Cocktails event, I purchased multiple items from QFD and I LOVE THEM...they fit perfectly...not all plus size women are created equally...I definitely think Qristyl gets that concept unlike Lane Bryant who makes clothing for people with a bunch of extra weight around the middle and not for people who have curves and a small waist...Thanks Ms. Frazier you have gained a client for life!
